Christmas 2013
The empire of Caesar demanded tribute from the people,
Laying claim to all they had produced in the past.
The realm of Herod demanded the blood of innocent children,
Laying claim to the future of the people.
The kingdom of God came as a gif from heaven,
Bringing freedom, love and joy,
Dwelling in human hearts in the present moment.
God became man, so that man may become divine:
Distributing the fruits of past labor in charity,
Preparing the future through acts of creative love and joyful sacrifice,
Living in freedom in the present moment—
And experiencing eternity therein.
